If any ClayArters have built their own web sites, I'd appreciate your
sharing your link with me.

I am looking for ideas to help me improve mine.

Thinking mostly of layout changes.

I am doing the site myself, so can't do anything very fancy.

Thanks.

I used Wix.com to build my site (which will have more in the "for sale"
section once my new kilnsitter gets here). It's really intuitive and fairly
customizeable. Since you have your own domain, you can redirect it to the
wix.com page. Wix's hosting and service is free unless you want to upgrade.

Weebly.com is another one where you can do drag-and-drop editing. :)

Have fun!

Mine is listed below. I used Yahoo Site Builder, then integrated Jalbum to
get the slide show with PayPal buttons on the individual images.

Once I got the hang of it, it has gone pretty good. I do all of my own web
site work. There are times that I do major changes, but mostly it works fo=
r
me.

I realize that it is not a high-end site, but at this point in my pottery
budget, I am the only webmaster available!

Sue,
Below is my web site address.
I did not build the site.
One of my former students built the site (She was in an advanced drawing
class, I think I taught her well about composition).
I gave her some general ideas of what I wanted and left the designing to
her.
I think she built it with Cold Fusion, a web construction app.

Hey Sue,
I've got two links in my signature to sites that I've built using
Dreamweaver doing most of the HTML and CSS "by hand". I'm not sure if I ca=
n
offer any ideas but if you have questions let me know!

I'm pretty excited because I'm currently redesigning my Art By Fuzzy site
and it should be much improved. I should have it up in about a week or so.
It will me a cleaner, all gray layout to emphasize the images.

I recently built a site with Squarespace. It is a complete content
management system. It is very functional but dull. I pick the template
layout and alter the font size and styles. I do have control over the
architecture. =3DA0Because I need to update it all the time and I can
track the web traffic easily, this service works well for me.

The main thing I have noticed about all these websites is that getting to
the gallery and moving between individual pots and the main gallery is of
major importance for usability. It is hard with some of them to know what t=
o
do to get back to the rest of the pictures once you have a close up of a
single pot.

Moving between pages of the website is an issue for me. My husband built it
and the gallery is a separate piece of programming. The gallery is divided
into firings and you have to hit the back button to get out of each firing
segment of the gallery (and that is not totally clear) - but within each
segment the individual pots are easily moved between.

The website is www.louraye.com. See what I mean in terms of usability. I am
not there I yet, but I do appreciate the work my husband does on it. I do
think the easier we make it for people to navigate the site, the better we
represent our work.

Hi, It would be nice if the gallery was embedded in a web page so you could
have a menu of all the firing pages up top.
