I bought a wheel from Palomar College from publicsurplus.com. It was listed=
in
unknown condition. I took a chance and when picking it up I tested it but i=
t did
not turn on. At home I bypassed the switch and got the motor to run. I thi=
nk
the switch is bad. Also the wheel head is on crooked (how that happened, I =
have
no idea) but the head is lopsided and connected with a shear pin that goes =
at an
angle through the shaft. I broke a couple tools trying to knock the pin out=
to
get the wheel head off. Now it is stuck. I think the shaft is straight. Any
ideas? I need a 12 or 14 inch wheelhead if anyone has an extra for sale and
probably a working power switch control that is connected to the foot pedal=
. I
would appreciate any help on this. Especially guru Vince Pitelka, or any ot=
her
ancient ones or any wet behind the ears that can teach me to rebuild a cont=
rol
switch to avoid spending 100+ bucks from a manufacturer. You see, I am brok=
e
like many in this great country of ours.
Thanks

Craig,
For the wheel head, if you are short of funds, place a thick
wad of clay directly on the wheel head and spread it evenly
to produce a flat surface. Using a little moisture on the
under side of the bat, place as centered as possible, wiggle
and stick it to the clay.
Result?
you can throw on the bat since it will now be true to the
wheel shaft.
Rather than spend a lot of money on a new controller, I
recommend you buy a Router Speed Control from Harbor Freight
dot com. You will also need a bridge rectifier from the
SurplusCenter.com to make the DC motor run on the AC router
speed control.
Save money and live better the Surpluscenter way.
