Marvin,

This is one cone 10 clay I have been testing, with pretty good
results. I got the formula from Don Bendall, a retired Prof. from N
Arizona. It comes from a variation on an old porcelain formula known
as the "four equals formula" which contains equal weights of kaolin,
ball clay, feldspar and silica. The variation is that it is five
equals by adding in a fireclay. I use Lincoln #60 (IMCO 400) fireclay.
The added plastic clay makes it throw a lot easier, and provides some
iron which darkens the body. So the formula is:

Lincoln #60 - 1

EPK - 1

OM4 ball clay - 1

Custer feldspar - 1

200 mesh silica - 1

I think you could use various kaolins, ball clays and fireclays in the
recipe and it would still work.

Try it, you might like it. It's pretty and flashy in the wood fire,
and kind of a grey/white stoneware in the gas.
