A VNP (very nice person) on Clayart just commented directly to me about =
=3D
my tirade about Chinese cups/mugs. Stepped on my (next) lines which =3D
were about "What poisons are coming into this country?"

If someone is using illegal drugs--cocaine, pot, hashish, heroin and the =
=3D
like--s/he knows about it. "Hey, Gang, lookatme, lookatme!"

But deadly stuff is coming in--and its legal and its all over.

Other day at Big Store I saw a display and lots of boxes of sets of =3D
vases. I could SEE across a large sales floor that them there vases =3D
were glazed with lead, copper, rutile.
Very purty. And on the side there was a tiny caution: "These are for =3D
decorative use only. " Maybe it also said "DO NOT use for food...." The =
=3D
type was like 12 Pt Franklin Gothic. Tan agains dark green background.

Now assuming the purchaser read this warning, and gave the vases to a =3D
friend, and the friend did not read the box, and discarded it. And then =
=3D
decided that the big vase was ideal of vinaigrette, and the medium on =3D
for plain vinegar, and the baby one for lemon juice? Need we go on?

We potters are not responsible for what other trades do. Nor can we =3D
singled handedly stop this deadly importation. But we can and we should =
=3D
in our displays etc point out--preferably with illustrations--that our =3D
ware is safe, and theirs ain't.
