my wonderful chinese porcelain mugs!

Two years ago I bought a couple of large white mugs and some large =3D
bowls/cups --marked porcelain-- in which an average-sized cantaloupe can =
=3D
sit happily.
Well the large bowls/cups crazed, and then cracked. So much for that =3D
"porcelain". The mugs did/do a bit better. They have not cracked, nor =3D
have they crazed.
But they stain like mad... The glaze stains, the bare footrim =3D
stains...And because the handles are so stupidly attached, and the =3D
"heel" as I call it--the corner where the wall meets the base on the =3D
inside--is so sharp , stuff gets into those corners, and it takes a =3D
sharp bamboo skewer and scouring powder to get the grunge out.

As far as I know no law prohibits making cocoa, or drinking tea or =3D
coffee with milk, or eating tomato soup or pickled beets out of mugs or =
=3D
large cups. =3D20
And the microwave ( that Evil "Enabler"!) allows us to heat our =3D
drink/ meal in these cups.

Now mind you. Some of these cups came from a Dollar Store or Wal-Mart =3D
and some from The High End Snooty Bowtick. Reinforcing my belief that =3D
there is this one factory in China that makes Export Products: today =3D
mugs, tomorrow parkas, and they all/each are one thing, only the labels =3D
and tags for different shops. And so we have container ships full of =3D
bad products coming FROM China, and container ships full of our hard =3D
earned dollars going TO China.

No, Moderator, not a political rant. Just this suggestion.

If you go to shows/fairs or have a shop and if you sell mugs =3D
(extrapolate for other items) make a display showing US vs Them. Have =3D
a large picture of one or YOUR mugs or casseroles...and have arrows and =3D
captions. Arrow pointing to where handle meets pot (top and bottom ) =3D
Caption saying mine is easy to clean...look at theirs. On your =3D
casserole: Nice big knob easy to grab with oven mitt; Their casserole: =3D
a barehanded elf could not do it....Their dog dish--a Chihuahua puppy =3D
can fling it across the room; YOUR dog dish: A Great Dane cannot nudge =3D
it two feet. Etc.=3D20

Those of you darlings who serve hot cocoa or coffee in your shop: think =3D
of having a few dirty cups (not actually drunk from , just allowed to =3D
cruddify on their own) and a few of theirs...and allow customers to wash =
=3D
them in a set up dishpan....Cocoa really works well....
