Anyone who has both chickens and a pottery studio
would enjoy the children's book "Potter Brownware"
(by Sarah Garland, ISBN 0-684-15044-1).
Potter Brownware was discouraged and depressed because
his sales were so poor. No one liked his dull brown pots.
One day, while he was out digging clay, the chickens
got in the studio and started scratching and flying around
and splashing glaze all around.
When he returned all his pots were speckled with colors of
glaze. He decided to fire them anyway.
Of course, he became famous throughout the land and
people lined up to buy the spotted pots!
My children just loved this book when they were small.
Potter Brownware's children were named
Dolly, Dunt, Marl, Matt, and Cobalt....
