I use this glaze all the time. It turns out a rich reddish
brown. I slow the cooling of my kiln between 2000 and 1600.

There are a couple of plates in the Clayart Flickr gallery:

I usually dip the pieces. It also works well with two of
my other glazes, one white and one blue, that are based on
the 1215H variation of Tony Hansen's 20x5 glaze:

After reading the latest Ceramics Monthly, I'm tempted to
try for a darker glaze by adding some cobalt to the glaze.
This glaze does not look like the tenmoku that the NCSU
Crafts Center has. It's closer to their Ohata red glaze.

Neal

What is your variation of the 1215H glaze if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Neal,

Love those plates. They are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

All the best.

The 1215H variation is one that's on the Digital Fire website:

Wollastonite 17
Frit 3134 18
EPK 21
Silica 24
Custer Feldspar 17
Lithium Carbonate 3

I use 2 percent lithium carbonate instead of 3 percent. My
white glaze is this with 9 percent superpax added. My blue
glaze is the base with 0.5 cobalt carb, 3 rutile, and 1 red
iron oxide added.

Both the white and the blue look good over Cathy Harris's
tenmoku glaze. For some reason, they don't work well with
each other.

I use Highwater's red stone clay.
