I also had her chicken at the YWCA in Ohau with my now deceased potter
friend Barbara Burger.She also raffles her pots she made at the
workshop and gave the results to the YWCA as she had been with tjat
program un her earlier days.
I met her again ,another year's trip,with a friend of hers, in a hotel
lobby in Princeville (beforehurricaneNikki destroyed it) where we all
watched a woman demonstrate making hats of palm fronds and flowers and
we all took Hawaiian Air seTed next to each other back to Oahu.
I had taken a class in the 1970's at Penland and found her to be an
absolutely wonderful person and teacher.
I made sculptures after that, using torn paper lit on fire to speed
internal drying as the piece progressed upward, as she did for her
vessels.
It worked well ,but I nearly set of the sprinklers in one mall demo, I
tried
it at, lol!
