Oh my, I had forgotten all about that! C-Rats were the joy of the day (sure=
)
- then later the "remains of the day" (sorry....) would "liven" up the
night. Praise the lord and pass the P-38s! The "ham and beans" were the REA=
L
killers.
There always was the question of which inflicted more casualties, the
"enemy" or C-Rats. Don't ever eat the cheese Bro! Anybody want to trade
something for fruit cake?
Funny I can't remember any of the other deserts except fruit cake, but I
don't ever recall being able to trade a can for anything except those stale=
,
100 year old round crackers, and of course, cheese. LOL
Wow, did that trigger some memories Tom. Some good, some... well, you know.
Best wishes, and thanks.

Back in the day when the Army was still giving out C-Rations.... just for
something kicks we would frequently take a packet of "Non-Dairy" creamer
contained in every box of C-Rations and toss it into a fire.... It never
dissapointed!

A fellow student at the UofO in the 70's got curious about all the
silicates, phasphates et al in the non-dairy creamer- idle moments at the
Tavern- so he pocketed some and put it on a glaze test at ^9/10 he got a
translucent glaze. All the thickening agents made it a pain to work with
'though.
