Does anyone know of a woodfiring workshop in either Washington State,
Oregon, Idaho, or British Columbia scheduled for this summer?

Hi Tim
We have 2 woodfired kilns in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island that are run and
fired on a cooperative basis by members (Tozan Society).
One is a 4 chamber (plus large dogie) noborigama which we fire in the last 2
weeks of May and again in the first 2 weeks of August.
The other is an Anagama which is fired on an unscheduled basis.
While we have no formal workshops planned at this time, you or anyone else
interested are more than welcome to join the society ($20.00 a year) and
come up and work with us on a firing. (for the Noborigama we run 3 shifts
of 4 to 8 people per day over a 5 to 8 day firing so we're always looking
for more workers). All members may of course fire their work at fees which
recognize sweat equity by giving workers a half price firing fee. If you
or anyone else wants info, please let me know and we'll send you details.
Every firing I've been involved in has been a learning experience for me and
I've been learning from some great people. Hope to be doing that for a long
time.
I should also add that Svend Bayer will be giving a workshop in Vancouver in
March and Jack Troy has one in Gresham Oregon at Mt. Hood CC Feb28-March 1.
Both of these would be of interest to those bitten by the wood bug. I can
find contact numbers on those if you want.
