I think one of my problems is that the gas tank I have has adequate volume
but not enough out-put.
The question is to buy a larger tank or buy a smaller tank and manifold it
to my existing tank- The Bar-B-Que size tank is much cheaper to buy because
of the quantities made.
How would I connect the two tanks?

Ward Burner has the proper parts to connect two 20 lb tanks. You would
probably be better off with a 100 lb tank if you can get the LP folks to
rent one with the LP. That size is pretty expensive, ya know. Marc
Ward can probably help you diagnose the stall too.

My teacher's set up which was typical in Japan was a series of 12 to16
tanks all hooked together with separate gauges and valves, with a half
dozen or more tanks not hooked up, in reserve. Potters could buy LPG
or Butane.

The biggest tank that I felt comfortable lifting and toting around in
cars and trucks was a 40# tank. It's a very handy size to have for
Raku and other converted kilns. Keep your 20# tank as a backup.

I have a line the comes from each tank into a brass tee. The common is then
connected to the adjustable regulator, then to the burner.
