Looking for some advice from the ladies who have gone before me.

I'm pregnant for the first time (twins!) and I'm a little nervous about
getting back on the wheel. I'm about 10 weeks along and haven't been in =
=3D
the
studio because I just haven't felt like sitting at the wheel kind of
crunched over my stomach.

But now I'm getting the hankering again. And I'd certainly like to do so=
=3D
me
stuff before I get too big and too busy.

Does anyone have any comfort tips for me? Or if anyone knows of somethin=
=3D
g I
should be careful about that I can't currently think of, please warn me.

Hi Alex,

Well, for one thing...

If it was me, Id steer clear of sitting at any usual design of Electric
Wheel.

I would not want those EMF currents surrounding the Embryo(s) or Foetus(es)
tender and budding CNS.

Along which broader lines - I would also avoid any WiFi or Wireless and any
Cell Phones and any people who have them with them, and I would stay far
away ( half-a-Mile at least ) from any Cell Phone Towers.

I'd stay away from Hexane, and maybe quite a few other things also....but,
it's a long list, so...

Congratulations!
I always ask at the start of all my classes if anyone is pregnant or has an=
y
other medical condition to speak with me after the first class to discuss
precautions. Exposure to some materials should be avoided, most you'll be
fine. Understanding materials and looking at MSDS for materials you might
use is advisable.

Here is Monona Rossol's book, The Artist's Complete Health & Safety Guide:

Contains very good information that you need.

When I was pregnant I remember that I had to stop making 18+ inch wide bowl=

One small thing you can do to make throwing more comfortable is to place a =
large mirror in front of you wheel so you do not have to bend to the side t=
o see the profile of the piece you are working on. That might make throwin=
g a bit more comfortable....pregnant or not.

It saves my neck and back a lot of strain and pain.

Best wishes.
