On Clayart people ask, from time to time, how to repair a
bulging sidewall kiln element. I hear that question at
NCECA, too. I just loaded a new video to Youtube that shows
how to shrink the element back into the groove. As you will
see, the procedure varies depending on whether the element
has bulged out of a corner groove or a straight section of
groove.
The procedure looks pretty easy on the video, because it
actually is--unless, of course, the element is in the bottom
of a deep kiln.
To compress the coils, use snap-ring pliers or the more
deluxe Craftsman 47386 lock ring pliers.

I hope you have a great weekend.
