Hello - I am relatively new to firing and have a question about cost of
firing. I have found formulas to approximate the cost of the actual firing=
,
but there is no mention of preheat. Any ideas as to how to determine the
cost per hour of preheat? Thanks in advance. MJ

I would think preheating would be at such low temperatures that cost would
be very low.
Having written that, IMHO, I find if one is allowing greenware to dry
properly, then preheating is just not necessary.
I also never preheat/candle our glaze firings in the school gas fired kiln.
Turned on low, temperature is about 700F - 800F in the first hour, never a
problem.
