In the 40's green was a favorite color in glass as well as appliances.
I collect green glass light shades from the 40's, it was called
"custard glass" because if you held it up to natural light you could
see swirls of a orange color in the glass itself. I have a chandelier
with 5 of the round shaped globes, but they're were also some that were
tear drop shaped. The color also showed up in drinking glasses, and
small egg shaped cups with a stem in thick glass. It also came in a
yellow that had a green cast to it. We nick- named them "Slime Yellow
and Muck Green ", I have a cast iron/ enameled bath tub, toilet & tank,
an old Patrician gas stove, in the yellow and green motif. I also have
glass towel racks, tooth brush holders, ash trays and a small cast iron
enameled in green bath tub that a distributor carried around as a
sample to show prospective customers. I just checked and to remain on
the clay topic the ash tray and tooth brush holder are both glazed
clay. All very collectable. Mike Gordon
