I just realized I didn't comment on you glaze questions. As you realize,
glaze making is a complex subject. It takes some concerted study and a genuine
interest over an extended time to get comfortable with the subject. But you
can do it when the time comes if you have the interest. For now the points to
remember seem to be: 1. Try to get assurance from someone knowledgeable that
the glazes you are using are properly formulated and being fired correctly. 2.
Higher fired glazes generally have more glass former (silica) and are more
durable and less likely to present problems of leaching of components.
