Why?
I don't know that I would expect much more from a 3 year old, but I would
just sit with them, and "play" with the clay myself, using skills and tools
they have. I might pound some clay into a slab, and then carve into it wit=
h
my fingers. Maybe I'd join little pieces of clay together in a simple
figure of an animal. Or pinch out a little bowl. Mind you, I wouldn't be
explaining what I'm doing - just chatting with them. But at the same time
I'm giving them ideas of what's possible all by example.
