one of the things that i am very careful about is
double dipping damp chrome loaded pots into base
white or light colored glazes.
i use a great deal of chrome/mixed with cobalt for
my base blue/green glaze. if it gets into white you
will get a really awful pink. it is not a nice color.
i wait about three minutes before the double dip. get the
water out of the glaze.
then it is fine.
chrome glazes are well known to be maverick. but i sure
love mine. i do believe i cut all my blue glazes with a touch
of chrome to break that awful bright blue, and add a cast of
green.
remember, i use rich iron clay, lots of grit and reduce my glazes
throughout the firing. it all makes a difference.
clay color
clay quality
final temp
glaze thickness.
amount of kiln atmosphere.
there is no simple answer.
