What I never get is, if folks are confident about what they are doing,
what do they have to disparage other peoples' work?

There is good and bad pop art and pots. What you call the form
isn't so important as the quality of the work. Does it fulfill its
promise?

the discussion on art and craft will never end...and it should not.

from my view, craft as craft and function has been beaten up
by academic art pretty well. it has been scoffed at, professors
have been let go because they believed in teaching craftsmanship
and technique. i know two for sure.
and so often, those that live in that ivory tower can do nothing.
really, nothing...well, except talk. the skill level and knowledge level
of many that teach is beyond laughable.
so, when you cannot do anything....like race baiting...make fun
of those that can do. minimize the importance.

we have a cadre of great teachers of clay. they study, make their
own work, stand tall and are content within themselves. we honor them.

but the weasels still do their thing.

so, if anyone in the clay world thinks it is unfair to bash crappo
art, well, we deserve to defend ourselves. it is debate, and it should
not be one sided. and if public sentiments were to rule, we win every time=
.
and, as they say....`i laugh all the way to the bank on monday after having
my SECOND Christmas sale.`

Mel,

my brother Albert with his MFA in painting
try to pull the same trick on me,
It did not work on me.

I said: "Make yourself every product. tool, etc.
you buy and use and we will see then if you are not
a craftperson."
