Thanks for all the different answers, both on Clayart and to me. I was alwa=
ys suspicious about the accuracy of the exposed cones. Just the weight of a=
ll that glaze on them. The ones I use to read how my firing is going are in=
a spot with the glazed ware and protected from the ash stream.
There is always a big difference between them and the other more exposed on=
es. If I wanted to have control and consistency I wouldn't be firing with w=
ood...... at this point I can predict somewhat what will happen in certain =
places. There are always a few good (and bad) surprises and mostly I am pre=
tty happy with the results. Still get the thrill from seeing the flames sho=
oting out the top of the chimney. You can see I spend entirely too much tim=
e with children......
