Folk and Traditional Arts

Folk and Traditional Arts is a pilot program designed to support the
artistic traditions and customs practiced within community and/or
cultural groups by identifying, documenting, preserving, presenting,
and honoring Minnesota=3D92s folk arts and traditions.

A folk or traditional arts project may be a single event or activity
that features folk and traditional art, or a series of multiple
events. Many organizations begin with field research to identify folk
artists or document folk traditions in a community. Once identified,
artists can then be invited to present in concerts, exhibitions,
documentaries, workshops, or work in the classroom.

The goal of the Folk and Traditional Arts program is that Minnesotans
will have multiple opportunities to engage in folk and traditional
arts forms and become more aware of the folk and traditional arts
offerings available to them.

Who can apply=3D97The applicant may be:
Any Minnesota folk or traditional artist.
Any Minnesota arts producing organization, arts presenting
organization or presenting affiliate, or community group, that is
exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code or has a nonprofit, tax-exempt fiscal agent.
Any Minnesota public agency such as a unit of local, state, or tribal
government.
