Just learned from Kathy Koop that Paul passed away peacefully about 1
a.m. today.
Last of the giants. End of an era.

No, just an end to an era. I know a 78 year-old woman who fires the =3D
largest wood kiln in North America and enjoys almost complete anonymity =3D
on 300+ acres in Maryland. Her pieces are tough and uncompromising, as =3D
is she. There are more giants out there....... don't rely only on the =3D
magazines to find them.
Cheers, Hank in Eugene

No Lee I believe it is Mary Bowron that Hanker is referring to. I have
2 wonderful plates of hers. It was the nicest pottery I have ever been
too. I was blown away. Joyce Michaud took me there. A house full of
art. Amazing.

Paul Soldner died last night....
while he was asleep went.
He wanted to live to 90, but
was only 89.
He was a remarkable man and
touched the lives of many who
are grateful for the experience
of his wisdom,
creativity and joy of life.
He will be missed.

That Albion Anagama truly is a monster! There were 8 or 10 of us sitting
comfortably inside the main chamber for about an hour one day, carrying on =
a
nice conversation, and there was still plenty of room left. "Big" is an
understatement. It is absolutely beautiful too; pride of workmanship
everywhere in evidence.
The pieces up front get absolutely nailed with ash, rich and luscious. The
stuff in the tail, less so. Never went to one of his openings, though the
kiln is only an hour from me. Should probably make it a point to do that.
Take care.

No more workshops or stories from that quiet, patient voice.=3D20
