Steve,
It isn't necessary to give up wall space for a turnbuckle arrangement. My f=
irst wedging surface was poured plaster inside of a wood frame and at the b=
ack, outside of the frame, I screwed a vertical board about 2" wide and abo=
ut 1/2-3/4" thick about 15" or so high, and I fastened a turnbuckle on to =
that.
Warm regards,
June

Here in the UK, my Teachers were of the "Leach" school, and we didn't use a=
Fixed Wire.
I was taught cut & slam, but we take the wire to the clay rather than the o=
ther way about.
I prefer it as it doesn't confine me to one designated place for clay prep,=
so I don't have to give up precious wall space in my tiny Pottery
