I too have this Skutt model 1027, and was recently talking to my
supplier, who had ordered a spare probe for me to have on hand. He said
there are now two models, the original type and the new one in which the
probe is encased in a metal of some kind, and theoretically will last
longer, since it is less open to the fumes. There is a price difference
of about $20 Can. Has anyone tried this new model? Is it worth the
additional price? My first probe lasted quite well, about 90 firings, i
think, mixed ^08 and ^6, and only broke when it did because i accidently
hit it with a kiln shelf.
