joe's story on safety

here is a sidebar:

i met a doctor on clayart, he was/is a pathologist
for a large children's hospital.
he did hundreds of autopsy's on children.
hard work.

he did mention once to me about guns, children
and death.

he said, `guns kill a few children each year..mostly kids
14 and older. but, stuff under your sinks, poisons, medicine
left out kills far more toddlers than one would think.
and, it never makes the papers.`

this is not a gun comment. a social comment. he lived
it every day. people are just plain careless with very toxic
and dangerous stuff. kids get into it and die.

it never makes the papers.
one gun death is front page, above the fold, headline.
ten kids dead of bad stuff is boring. no need to make the paper
or evening news.

Hi Mel, all,

Here's a Gem -

I remember when this was in the Papers...

Eeeeeeesh...

Say...

I missed, or never got, "Joe's Story on Safety" - could someone please
direct me to it or forward it to me?

Thanks!

Bye-and-Bye...

The Antidote - when there is still time - for Ethylene Glycol ingestion
Poisoning, is Ethyl Alcohol.

The Kidneys will elect to metabolize it, in favor of the Glycol, thus
metering the Glycol metabolization/processing efforts in a way which
precludes the otherwise fatal crystalline structures forming and whatever
else
as configure into the lethality/damage trouble syndrome.

I run into suspected instances of this sometimes with Wild Birds...so, they
get some good Scotch & Water or Bourbon & Water, pronto...which they enjoy
drinking voluntarily.

They have about the same tolerance in mG/k as an average person does, so,
works out pretty well.

I have a vague though that something was added awhile back to
anti-freeze to make it unpalatable -or a least have a less than
pleasing taste. Could be wrong on this. I have some 50/50 in the
garage -be right back.

I might say that the "cause" of death is owners letting their dogs run fr=
=3D
ee /wild. I=3D20
know that this happens here, where I live, and it is usually because the =
=3D
dogs get=3D20
into the neighbor's stuff and they want to stop it.=3D20

It is terrible either way but fixing the taste antifreeze is not the "sol=
=3D
ution" ...the=3D20
solution is taking care of your dog.

Just my opinion,
