skin for drums

Some time ago I read some drum makers were made terribly ill by the =3D
skins they had bought to cover drums. It appears the skins were =3D
imported, from Heaven knows were, and carried the germs of some dreadful =
=3D
disease.

I have no idea what happened next....but I would check the provenance of =
=3D
any skin I bought...

If you get the hides from a reputable company or a local goatherd you
will have no problem. The very few(!) instances of sickness were from
hides bought from west Africa or via an antique dealer.
