workshops will each emphasize surface decoration and finishing =3D
techniques, and will be instructed by the Gallery guest artist for the =3D
month.=3D20
February 5 2011: Shalene Valenzuela. Shalene, whose show, =3D93Recipe for =
=3D
Disaster=3D94 is the gallery exhibit for February, will demonstrate a =3D
variety of surface-embellishment techniques and application of images. =3D
Through slide presentation, lecture and hands-on demonstration, she will =
=3D
share her unique process of illustrating on bisque surfaces and =3D
incorporating print aspects with her drawn images.

On April 2, 2011: Yoko Sekino-Bove. Yoko will demonstrate combinations =3D
of decoration techniques including sgraffito, carving, stamping, and a =3D
variety of glaze painting. Other wet clay surface techniques will =3D
include mishima and slip painting. Students will actively participate =3D
in this workshop and make a variety of clay stamps to use on their own =3D
work. A supply list will be emailed to participants in advance of the =3D
workshop. Yoko=3D92s show, =3D93Fragile Immortalitiy=3D94 will be the =3D
featured exhibit at Plinth

May 7, 2011: Connie Norman will conduct the final segment of the series. =
=3D
Connie will focus on glazing techniques for terra cotta and white =3D
earthenware pottery, using masking tape and other office supplies to cut =
=3D
resist-style designs. Students should bring several pieces of =3D
bisque-fired work to experiment with glazing techniques demonstrated in =3D
this workshop. Connie=3D92s show, =3D93Snippets of Conversation=3D94 will =

Posting this again to Clayart. We have a few spaces left for the series =
=3D
or for the individual workshops. This is a great opportunity to meet and =
=3D
learn from these ceramic artists who have developed some very unique =3D
surface decoration techniques and methods.=3D20
