one of the other important aspects of teaching
in the public arena is:
the effects are cumulative...that means you as teacher
has the greater risk. (thank you bill for your post.)
the kids are there a few hours, a few days.
you are there for thirty years. days on end.
my safety issues when teaching were about saving/protecting
me. the kids were fine.
in and out.
think first about `you`...then the kids will be protected
at all levels.

i have never understood sloppy safety.
it is the height of laziness.
just like firing kilns, like letting a novice/ill trained fire
a gas kiln..because the teacher is too lazy to do
it himself. a disaster waiting to happen. and, behind
every kiln accident you will find a lazy person in charge.
i have seen many. `but, mel, you don't understand, my
wife wanted me to go to a movie with her, and the kiln
had to be fired by friday.` yah, sure.
ppss.
the reason we use only 3m products in our ridatick
company is that all 3m tapes far exceed the msds standards.
in fact, 3m gives us a msds
sort of document, but they do it as a favor, so we can show
it around. it is far more complete than any needed doc. and totally
unnecessary. but, our vendors in norway and sweden think it is
really cool that we do not need an msds.

I am reminded of my flight training and the rules of bush flying. The
pilot always arrives at the crash scene before anybody else! Make damn
sure the pilot arrives safe - and the rest will follow!!!
Same applies to shop safety!
