Howdy claybuds,
I just finished a blog post on accepting credit cards. To square or not to
square......... never square!
If you're interested or thinking about signing up for the square read the
blog, too long to write here.
Get a stiff drink and settle in ...........

Interesting... but if you read what actually happened, Square has nothing t=
o
do with his problems. His original identity theft started it, and Experia=
n
has caused the rest by not fixing his ssn to the new one. (Square runs a
credit check before approving... and probably uses experian since as I
recall they are the cheapest alternative for credit checks)
Glad to hear Intuit has good customer service for their pay app though...
they've had their share of issues in the past with other software.
Me, I'm quite happy with square, and have no reservations about recommendin=
g
it to andoid/ipad/ipod touch owners who have a need for low volume card
processing.

all true, however if I were still waiting on "Square" I would never be
taking credit cards! I guess if you are comfortable tweeting and waiting
for them to answer you, no problem. I waited a week and had time to think.
Do I really want $1,000's of dollars going through to a place I can only
tweet? That just doesn't seem like a smart business move to me.
The gopayment folks have gone above and beyond to get this thing set up.
As of tonight I am in and ready to go........
As for Experian......... I may never get that figured out as you just seem
to run in circles.

Square isn't aimed at the "serious" business - if you're looking at
thousands of dollars in sales at a time, you're better off getting a
regular merchant account - the difference in per-transaction fees
covers the monthly and more - and Square has a longer hold period for
large amounts. But for folks who are just getting started, and doing
a few small shows a year it makes a lot of sense - no up front costs.
(Oh yes - twitter is *not* their main support route - email is -
there's links off the Help page on the site that send emails - I've
used that route myself while wondering what was going on during the
beta)
Didn't realize from your original post that you were the person
involved - hope you can get Experian straightened out again - ID theft
is one of the worst things that can happen these days. Good luck
with your sales - may you run low on inventory just at the end of the
show!

I was struck the same way. Sounded more like an Apple problem.

Are you serious?
Personally, I think you have two large entities who have a new =3D
partnership & are still working out the details. Also if I had had an =3D
iPhone or droid with no social security problems it would have gone =3D
better, but I don't and won't.
All that said, the customer service at Square was terrible.
If you're ok tweeting your account, go for it, I am not. Yup I am a bit =
=3D
gun shy, pun intended.
I do think a person without "issues" would have easier time signing up =3D
however I found the customer service to be lacking. Even on the new web =
=3D
"help"page after emailing they never got back.

Clearly a round person trying to fit into a square black hole.......
