I came across an ad for ohaus scales for $95.00
American Science and surplus.
All I know is what I see on their website, but it sounds like a bargain!

I bought an Ohaus Triple Beam balance a couple of years ago. I have never
regretted it. They have provided a reliable, accurate weighing instrument with
a realistic range for pottery use. It does not need batteries either.

In the UK, the trick is to buy them from a commercial scales and cash register
supplier. Some are distributorsfor Ohaus. Look in Yellow Pages/Thomsons.

The UK price is about GBP125.
