i have given up trying to explain, or suggest what
people do about buying mackenzie.

it is complex. and, it is his business...not mine.
i leave that alone.

there are few pots to buy now for the public at large.
you just have to be there, at the right place, right time.

he still makes many pots, thousands a year in fact.
but, to get them is difficult.

donovan palmquist has built him a new kiln. and far
easier to load and fire than his old one. nice kiln.
warren is 86.

lots of folks in line before you for pots.

i have a fine collection of mackenzie pots, all purchased
before 1965. since then...i leave it alone.

not my business to infer anything.
mel
but, he sure as created a market for his pots.
if he sells 2000 pots a year at 20 bucks a piece.
that is good sales. who would not want, as a craftsman,
that line waiting and salivating for your next firing. good for him.
i respect his work ethic, and his sales ideas.
if you cannot learn from that, again, you are a silly fool.
create a market for your work, have people respect you and admire
you, and sell everything you make. he sure taught me how to do it.
i try and follow that script. and, he seems to have no time for
`special collectors or galleries`.

but, the key is: you have to want to make pots, lots of pots,
and have the energy to keep doing it. ten pots a year for `special` shows
does not make it.

I think it is tuesday mornings (someone correct me if I am mistaken)
but you can usually find Warren's work at Northern Clay Center:

He used to fill his large kiln once every 4 weeks. =3DA0 Now he fills it
every 6 weeks.
He makes about 5,000 pots a year. =3DA0 Some of the larger pieces (he has
been making more tall pots to fill the kiln up faster), and aren't
$20.00 pots. Neither are the large platters:
