Another option for clay classes in the Chicago area is Native Soil, 602 Davis
in Evanston, IL (847) 733-8006. (Approximately 30 minutes north of the
Chicago Loop, and also accessible via transit.)
Native Soil offers 10 week hand building and wheel throwing classes for adults
and children. Individual attention in teaching, multi-level classes,
beginning to advance students. Maximum class enrollment is 10, thus it is a
comfortable, helpful environment. Firing Processes: low fire, majolica, and
mid-range glazes used in electric kiln firing (and look good!!). Equipment:
11 wheels, slab roller, electric kilns.
Next class session begins February 3 - April 11.
Native Soil also offers Summer Workshops by accomplished ceramic artists (1997
- Linda Arbuckle).
