Do you have a kiln sitter and/or timer on your kiln? You need to override =
both
of them to get the controller to work.
Kiln sitter: without a cone in place, lift the outer lever, push the butto=
n in
and then gently lower the lever so the button is not tripped and remains
depressed.
Timer: set the timer for slightly longer than you expect the firing to take=
.

You can over-ride the Kiln Sitter or even use it as a safety backup.
Should you decide to continue using the Kiln Sitter, load it with a cone
that is rated one or two numbers higher than the firing. That way the
controller with shut off the kiln instead of the Kiln Sitter, yet you
will still have a safety backup.
