I'm thinking of making candlesticks. Hand built - I'm still allergic
to the wheel. Anything I need to think of/know before I start? Any
tricks to making the part that holds the candle the right size?

Hey Deb,
Use a dowel 10% or 15% larger than the candle to size the hole while it st=
iffens up.
