The UF Ceramics Department wanted to let you know about all the exciting
events upcoming in Gainesville this spring in conjunction with NCECA 2011.
We are gearing up for NCECA with an exciting pre-conference event scheduled
for *March 27 and 28. *

* *

*Creating Meaning,* the UF Pre-Conference will feature demonstrations by *N=
=3D
an
Smith* (faculty artist) and *Kathy King* and *Kevin Snipes *(UF alums). Th=
=3D
e
artists will present their signature techniques including: techniques for
sculpting life scale figures, life-casting and mold-making demos, methods
for creating thrown and altered vessels and a variety of surface decoration
techniques.



A shuttle bus tour to 6 local gallery exhibitions will be available for
conference attendees on Sunday March 27 complete with an opening reception
and welcome by *Linda Arbuckle*. This exciting event will be held at the
beautiful Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art where everyone will be treated to th=
=3D
e
ceramics national *Alchemy: From Dust to Form*.



We encourage you to register for the pre-conference yourself and/or share
this opportunity with your colleagues and students.

or
you and your students to attend intimate workshops by three established
artists, to visit the UF School of Art + Art History studios, and to
interact with the UF Ceramics community =3D96 faculty and current students.=
=3D
You
will also see some wonderful exhibitions of work by national artists,
workshop leaders, UF Ceramics MFA candidates and excellent work by
Gainesville ceramics artists.
