If anyone is interested I found an interesting web site that lists different
search engines for Material Safety Data Sheets or MSDS. Here, at the University
we are required to keep all this safety information on file for students to use.
The MSDS are basic safety suggestions for about any chemical you can think of.
If you want to know how toxic a cheical is, whether it leaches through the skin
or has to be ingested to cause problems, check the MSDS.

The address is http://www.phys.ksu.edu/~tipping/msds.html

When you get to this site you will find a listing of several search engines. I
have been using the engine from the University of Utah most frequently, but you
can click on any of them. This will take you to another page, where most likely
you will enter the name of the chemical you are concerned with or a list will be
provide from which to choose. It's fairly simple and easy to use.

That way any one who has a question about the chemicals they are using can find
out exactly what the potential dangers might be. Incidentlly, most of the
chemicals used in clay and glaze making are classified as dust hazards. Wear a
mask!!!
