It's a good idea to vacuum the peep holes before you start firing so you
don't blow soft brick particles into the kiln when you blow in.

I'd like to add that I use a hair dryer for blowing into the gas kiln peep =
=3D
holes to see cones 10 and above. (I've always used the small orton cones) =
=3D
The=3D2C cooler than kiln atmosphere=3D2C hot air from the hair dryer just=
coo=3D
ls enough to visually darken the cones for good contrast.=3D20

I had forgotten but I too use a hair dryer on occasion.
