Drake,
Many years ago I had the good fortune to spend a couple of weeks driving ar=
ound North Carolina between my daughter's Senior Recital and her graduation=
from The School of the Arts in Winston Salem. I don't know how far you mi=
ght get from Asheville, but I'm sure you know about Seagrove - where you wi=
ll find an entire town that seems to be built around pottery. Closer to As=
heville is the Southern Highland Guild on the blue Ridge Parkway - do not m=
iss it - beautiful, http://www.southernhighlandguild.org/ and a bit furthe=
r out (maybe an hour or so from town)is Kathy Triplett's studio http://www.=
kathytriplett.com/home.html. Meeting Kathy was the highlight of my trip - =
Don't tell my daughter. And Penland isn't too far out of town either, ther=
e you can find several artists living on the nearby grounds, including Cynt=
hia Bringle. Have a great trip.
