pottery recommendations/uk

Hello all - Planning a trip this summer over to the UK for a 'big'
birthday (might make turning 'that number' a bit easier to handle). It
will be a 10 day 'pottery tour' and I'm looking for recommendations. So
far, the travel plans include (not necessarily in this order) -

Land in Heathrow (??), - drive to the potteries of
Doug Fitch
John Leach
Svend Bayer
Clive Bowen
and finish at Leach Pottery St Ives

Then head back north and go to Winchcombe, and in Wales - Joe Finch's
pottery.

If anyone has any more to recommend, especially in Wales or Scotland
(yes, we don't mind driving a lot; we've done it before), or, B&Bs
especially pottery related, I would love to hear about them on or off
the list. I love wood fire or traditional British slipware but am open
to all good potteries.

We haven't booked the flight yet until the potteries are mapped out. If
it would make more sense to start from the north and loop down and
around, we may do that instead.

thank you!

He was not on my list but shame on me for forgetting him! Thank you for
your reminder as well as the website link! Thank you to the others who
responded privately as well. I have a couple of more stops to make now
but will always be appreciative for more recommendations!

I did not notice Mike Dodd among the potters on your list. David =3D
Stannard admired him greatly among those he worked with in England.

Hi, one thing to consider when planning should be the date...the first
weekend in July is the Biennial International Ceramics Festival in
Aberystwyth. Some potters you might be planning to see could be there
then! I doubt if there are tickets left, but no harm in enquiring.

Hi Nancy,

You might like to look at this web site www.trinitycourtpotteries.co.uk
run by Jim and Emma Newboult, 63, Cobwell road, Retford, Nottinghamshire,
DN22 7DP email trinitypottery@aol.com. They make museum pottery replicas
from the iron age to the 18th century to museum specifications. It's an
interesting site. They are fussy about exact clays and glazes etc. Not
exactly near the Leachs or Cornwall but maybe on your way up to Scotland.
There are a lot of potteries in Devonshire too.. I think Nic Collins is
there on Dartmoor somewhere. I'm sure the Newboults could give you more
names for their area. (Don't think I have the website entirely correct but
it comes up on google).
Frances Howard.

Nancy,

Mention of Jim and Emma Newboult, 63, Cobwell road, Retford, Nottinghamshir=
e
brings to mind Jane Hamlyn, famous for her Salt Glazed Work. Her studio is =
a
little further north in Nottinghamshire, towards Doncaster.

Enjoy the trip,
