hi. i'm new to this group. i'm interested in sharing cone 6 recipes.
this is a recipe i got at the touchstone center in pennsylvania,
hence its name. if this has already been circulated, sorry for the
duplication.

touchstone red - cone 6 oxidation

(use the standard precautions, i.e. mask, etc. while mixing glazes)

gerstley borate 32
flint 30
soda spar 20
talc 14
GA kaolin 5

red iron oxide 15

charactertics: red/brown with a tendency to go khaki where thick.
nice liner glaze. goes well under and over many of my regular glazes
(floating blue, randy's green, tea dust). brushes well also.

This glaze could be a little short of alumina and therefore be subject to
leaching from alkalies. WITHOUT the iron it also has a VERY low expansion
rate - if you use it as a liner I recommend you leave the iron in or adjust
the expansion UP.
