Well, I don't know if you have had a chance to see Tony Clennell in =3D
action! If not, run don't walk, if you find Tony anywhere near to your =3D
location.
We had Tony here (Arrowsmith Potters Guild, Parksville, B.C. - Vancouver =
=3D
Island) for 4 days and the time went far too fast. He conducted a =3D
workshop to a sold out house. The workshop was held on April 21st & =3D
22nd a Thursday and Friday. On Saturday our Guild presented our 5th =3D
Triennial Masters Symposium - Tony was one of our presenters and was a =3D
great "hit".
Tony's pottery forms are something that will stay with us for a very =3D
long time - they are definitely an art form of Tony's creation both in =3D
thought and in their finished form. We knew he had a reputation for =3D
large forms but we were delighted to see him produce teapots, mugs and =3D
smaller vases. His large pieces absolutely "blew us away"! The forms, =3D
the decoration and the visual product were extraordinary.
Tony and I availed ourselves of the opportunity to visit Gordon Hutchens =
=3D
at his home in the primeval forest on Denman Island. Gordon was firing =3D
his large wood-fire anagama kiln on the Easter weekend. Here we were =3D
able to meet and talk with many of the potters that were working with =3D
Gordon on this large project. We were also invited by Gordon to see his =3D
Gallery withholds some of the most outstanding pottery we have seen.
So, a great weekend, a great potter and great weather melded into a =3D
learning potters dream!

Les: You are more than kind and were the consummate host. Had a wonderful
time on my bus man's holiday. Meeting so many on the island with so much
dedication and enthusiasm for clay re-energized this bunny. I'm afraid
before I hit the studio again I have some major clean up to handle. A major
wind storm has taken out many trees and our neighbours chicken barn minus
the 37,000 chickens was leveled. Mother Nature's way of reminding us that
she is still the boss.
I hope to return to the island soon. It really did feel welcoming.
Be well ole boy and at 83 you are an inspiration to me. That I might still
be wood firing 23 years from now goes down as nicely as a fine Scotch.
Cheers,
Tony
