hb white and gertsley borate

wondering if anyone else has had trouble with new Gersley Borate
in their HB White Cone 6 glaze.
We are finding that when we mix it, it is fine, but then
the borax seems to break down and it fires with freckles
of a red brown. (the customers don't seem to mind it, but
I don't like it at all)
Has anyone reformulated HB to correct this problem.
many thanks,
Maxine

Not sure what you mean by the new gerstley borate as every bag is a new
experience. The inconsistencies have been discussed many times before.
Also not sure what you ask regarding "the borax seems to break down" as
there is no borax in gerstley borate. Do you add borax to the HB White
glaze? If so, borax is soluble so the glaze will change over time.
Freckles of red brown sounds like iron contamination. Don't know if one of
the ingredients has iron in it or if the glaze was accidently contaminated.

Hi Maxine,

Send me the recipe and I'll see if I can redo it with a frit.

What does HB stand for?

It's spring, it stands for Happy Bunny.

There is a six inch long bunny that is as fast as a rocket in my
backyard. Cute little bugger too. My wife would adopt him in a
second if she could catch him.
