Hi Dinah
Can't answer your question, but some years ago the British Museum had
an interesting exhibition about fakes, with examples of originals and
copies, covering all sorts of things, antiquities, metal stuff - and
some of those prison Leach pots. I was amazed at the time, that
anyone who had ever seen a pot of any kind could have been taken in,
as they were really not very good! But I guess if a gullible customer
is keen to buy an original, then maybe shoddy workmanship can be
ignored. Any excuse would do - one of his earlier works, don't you
know, when he was still learning....

Dear Dinah,
My memories of this episode are similar to Jenny's.=3D20
I do remember that at the time the comment was made re. their poor quality =
c=3D
ompared to almost anything he had made.=3D20
However I have no knowledge as to the fate of the perpetrators.=3D20
