For users of Matt and Dave's Porcelain for the People (PFP),
Below is one recipe which Matt Katz has formulated specifically to fit
the high fire (C10) version of our porcelain. It just came out of the
autoclave test this afternoon on samples of the plastic clay body and passe=
d
(no crazing).
Super Glossy PFP Clear, C10
14.37 G200HP Feldspar
5.42 Whiting
12.55 Silica
27.20 EPK
40.45 Frit 3124
Matt will be posting this glaze on our website, below, along with detail=
s
including how he fired it. I think the following should go without saying,
but just in case:
CAUTION! Your mileage may vary! This glaze is not guaranteed to fit any cla=
y
body, including our own. We have no control over your raw materials, glaze
mixing, application or firing. We offer the glaze for your use and guidance=
,
but assume no responsibility for any problems you may encounter in using it=
.
In other words, please do your own testing before you make and fire a
kiln load of work hoping the glaze will be the silver bullet you seek. Also=
,
if you do try it we'd appreciate any feedback, either off or on-list. Thank=
s
and good glazing!
Btw, Matt wanted to call it Rutherford B. Glaze...but I wouldn't go for
it. :-(
