My apology to Clayart for the non-clay related use of bandwidth - and
if I have posted this before - my memory isn't what it use to be.
I need to make a connection with serious collectors/galleries/appraisers
to see about selling four original paintings done in the 1950's. I hope
some knowledgeable list members can give me pointers or recommend "real,
legitimate" contacts and sources.
One painting is the Rotunda of the National Gallery of Art. The other
three are of the Chambers of the US House of Representatives, the US
Senate, and the US Supreme Court. The paintings are about 24x24 inches
and are mounted, framed, and glass covered. The were painted by Alba
Hicks, a resident artist in DC back in the '50's. She was principally a
muralist, and little of her art work exists today. Most of it was either
destroyed during remodeling, or construction. There is one outstanding
exception to the fate of most of her work, and that is the four
paintings I have, plus the sculpture she did in 1969 of Neil Armstrong
on the Moon, which now resides in the Armstrong Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Any references would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John//
