I've had no problem cutting bricks for posts. I used to cut a hard-brick (E=
mpire) soap in 2/3rds giving me a selection of 3, 6 and 9 inch posts. I als=
o stacked them to give me 12, 15, 18, 21 etc... I fired them up to cone 12 =
with SiC shelving without any problems. It was important to keep the surfac=
es flat especially for stacking them. Back west and in school I never had e=
xperience with soft-brick/insulating brick. My first teaching job I found a=
box of soft brick and cut them for posts, they squatted at c/10 but didn't=
go down... -Rimas
