The Clay Art Center in Port Chester, New York has some space left in the
Joe Bennion workshop on Jan 30 - 31. The fee is $110 for the two days and
includes a potluck dinner on Friday night. You may be able to take just
one day. The workshop is entitled "Pottery of the Heart - Examining
Utility" phone 914-937-2047.

The Clay Art Center is a WONDERFUL facility founded 40 years ago by
Katherine Choy and Henry Okamoto. It offers studio space for rent (I have
worked there between studios of my own) workshops, kilnspace all equipment
and gas kilns including a 120 cubic foot car kiln for sculpture, and
wonderful glazes. It is very happily under new ownership and a very
exciting place to be. Worth looking into if you are in the area, right off
95 & 287.

Georgia, I was lucky enough to attend one of Joe Bennion's workshops put on
by Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts, at Pearson College,
near Victoria, B.C., and cannot endorse his presentation too highly. One of
the most valuable aspects of ceramics workshops, for me, is the philosophy
of the artist. Joe was outstanding. You are in for a treat!

Regards, Daphne
