This talk about the Critter sprayer, reminds me of the low tech
methods of glaze spraying used by potters in New Zealand. Nearly every
pottery and Pottery School I visited ( while giving workshops down
under) had an Elertolux Vacuum cleaner that doubled as a glaze sprayed,
Plug the hose into the outlet and blow instead of suck. They use a
spyhon sprayer attachment that comes with the vacuum cleaner. The
sprayer was sold as a household sprayer, and has something like a jelly
jar for liquid( except it said electro Lux). Most potters had multiple
jars to switch between glazes quickly.
I went to lots of second hand stores puchasing these devices and
also found many many hand made pots. There are lots of potters in NZ and
it is not unusual that over the years well known potters works may end
up in junk shops, the trick is knowning the potters marks, to know who
they are.
When I got back to the states I visited a second hand vacuum
cleaner store and found the same devices. Kirby makes a fancy one with a
trigger on the gun, the electro Lux just had a hole you pluged with your
finger to create the syphon. I have several expensive spray guns here
with large volumn paint pot, and touch up guns, but aside from splatter
like effect given by the vacuum cleaner, it works well.

Hey hey hey, The name of the Vacum cleaner is an Electrolux but even in NZ
they are getting a bit scarce. Fortunately we have zillions of second hand
shops here so the supply is assured in the short term..cheers to you Robert
