Hi I have been using a drum sander mounted on the wall for years with great
success. It is a hub like a garden tractor front wheel hub. Mounted aroun=
d
this is a perforated rubber material that you put a silicon carbide belt
over it for grinding and or polishing pot bottoms. When the motor is turne=
d
on the rubber expands to hold the belt in place. Creative industries sells
these or used to with a motor etc. You can put one together with a used
dryer motor, an arbor ( hardware store item) that attaches to the motor
shaft and connects to this hub assembly for a superior grinder/polisher. I=
t
is soft so it won't bang on your pots like a hard wheel grinder. I bought
the hub and the belts at "dad's rock shop They sell various sizes. I use
the 8" x 3" hub and I get a couple of different grit sizes on the belts.
These are much less expensive at this place, that I have found. Check it
out. I won't speak for them any more than, they have them, and the two
orders I placed with them were well handled and I was satisfied with their
product and service. The hub and belts are found here.

Thanks for the advice Ivor. As you say, there are a kazillion sources of
diamond products. I just wasn't able to find a source for my specific
desire. Thanks to Bill Schran I have managed to find and order a setup
perfect for my needs. Anybody that is interested can contact me for more
information. When it arrives in a couple of weeks I could give an update o=
n
whether this is the answer to my dreams---or not!

I really like my diamond hand blocks. The first ones I experienced
were the ones Craig Edwards got in Cold Spring at the Granite works.
I was trying to adjust the size of a bsiqued lid on the bench grinder
at NCC and wasn't having much luck. Kept cutting divots out of the
lid. I brought it home and used the diamond blocks on it and made a
perfect fit, smoothing out the divots I made with the grinder.
Check them out here:

I find 400, 200 and 50 the most useful.

Yeah, people that finish granite for a living have all sorts of ways to
polish up your pots. The prices are usually good also.

They are $10.50 each, but shipping is the same for one or four, so I
ordered four.
Above 400 (800 for example) the blocks are not useful on ceramic
because the diamond is in little epoxy hemispheres instead of flat
circles.
