First off, I did not mean to imply this joke was misogynistic. I should =
=3D
have been clearer in my writing. I was trying to say that misogynism is =
=3D
a common staple in Edouard's bag of tricks. Now, on to the rest of your =
=3D
post.
You, living in the deep south, as I do, should be well aware of the =3D
"code words" used in racist language.=3D20
I guess you are not aware of the concept of dog-whistle. Let me help =3D
you out:

Sure, he didn't use the words like "black" or "coloreds." However, =3D
considering that the subjects of the joke come from New Orleans, have =3D
stereotypically African-American names, and exhibit behavior consistent =3D
with the welfare queen myth, it's kind of hard to deny that he was =3D
making jokes specifically about African-Americans.
Then again, maybe you're unable to derive subtext from anything. Maybe =3D
you think Animal Farm was just about some angry pigs.
So here's the choice: you're either a racist or just clueless. Choose.=3D2=
0=3D
And by the way, I would rather not receive any more private emails from =3D
you. I had my share of nasty private emails from your ilk the last time =
=3D
I spoke up. If you have something to say, send it to the list.

Lori, Sorry about cc'ing you on my reply. The "reply to all" feature adds
your address as well as clayart's while simply hitting reply sends it only
to you. I would also add that nothing in my email was "nasty".
My point in the post was that you obviously inferred race in Edouard's post
since race was not specified. I have seen this before. "Oh, they are talkin=
g
about New Orleans, people with odd names that are on welfare so they must b=
e
talking about african-americans!" That position is an example of soft
bigotry.
As to living in the deep south, I have lived and traveled extensively and
found the level of racism in the South to be average to lower than many
other states. It is a bigoted position to assume that Southerners are any
more racist than northerners. Also, I don't have to chose racist nor
clueless since I am neither.
My last word on the subject as I have clay items to attend to.
